Bayer MaterialScience Expands Shanghai Polymer R&D Center
Bayer MaterialScience has commenced construction to expand its Polymer Research and Development Center (PRDC) in Pudong, Shanghai. When complete, the PRDC will be Bayer MaterialScience’s first facility in Asia-Pacific to host technical development and research facilities for its four business units operating in the region: polyurethane; polycarbonates; coatings, adhesives, sealants; and thermoplastic polyurethanes. Each of these business units will have the full capacity to provide technical service, new application development, as well as training for staff and customers.
As part of the expansion project, two new buildings to house technical facilities for the polyurethanes and coatings business units will be constructed adjacent to the PRDC’s existing facilities in Jinqiao, while an existing warehouse will be extended. With the expansion, Bayer MaterialScience will more than double the area of the PRDC.
